Since 1952, Light of Life Rescue Mission has been a safe refuge for homeless and hurting people in the Pittsburgh area. We are currently seeking a full-time, onsite, live-in Life Recovery Assistant for Sisters' Recovery House, Light of Life's facility for single women. This person will live on-site and help clients become self-aware of issues while creating a loving, grace-filled environment.

Reporting to the Women and Children's Program Manager, the Life Recovery Assistant will walk closely alongside the clients to understand each woman's unique challenges, opportunities, and relationships while providing assistance on the path to recovery and will commit to House security and safety.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and lead weekly House Meetings and evening prayer and devotions and coordinate and support volunteers to help with in-house activities
  • Oversee and dispense any medications determined by client care plans and assist with drug screening as necessary
  • Input notes into the online system on a weekly basis and provide incident reports
  • Attend Light of Life staff meetings as required
  • Address all safety, maintenance, and facility issues with the Light of Life maintenance team
  • Conduct apartment inspections and assign chore responsibilities to maintain the house as a safe and clean environment

Due to the interface with the clients, all jobs at Light of Life require employees to:

  • Walk alongside clients as a disciple of Christ and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them through actions and words.
  • Establish mutual trust and create a safe, authentic environment so that the clients continue to mature in Christ.
  • Serve the clients in a Christ-like manner and practice a self-evaluative lifestyle.
  • Resolve all issues in ways that promote the principles of Light of Life while following the processes described in the LOL staff manual.
  • Exhibit love for Jesus Christ, the staff, and the clients.
  • Study the Christian Bible and apply the knowledge received/revealed to job duties and clients' specific issues.
  • Help the clients make choices that are justifiably in their eternal best interest.
  • Practice Christ-like stewardship of all resources.
  • Model personal responsibility, accountability, timely reporting and a self-evaluative lifestyle.

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college courses a plus
  • Knowledge from formal and experiential training in drug and alcohol recovery and mental illness preferred
  • At least 5 years' solid life recovery required
  • Previous Recovery House experience desired
  • Familiarity with Office365 and cloud-based software

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily indoors and requires climbing stairs daily.

Frequent to continuous sitting.
