The Education and Employment Intern's role will be to assist the Education Specialist with projects related to improving program services, improving volunteer placement processes, and providing administrative support as needed. This position offers the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in human services, adult education, and data-collection and assessment.



  • Improving program services.
  • Compile resources and assist in planning Education & Employment (E&E) classes, groups and activities.
  • Assist in developing life-skills work opportunities with the goal of connecting those experiences with individual goals for improving employability skills.
  • Create an updated Resource Library for clients and alumni to use and research potential programs or resources that will be beneficial to old and new graduates.
  • Create opportunities for new and stronger partnerships with local organizations related to education, training, and employment.
  • Improve E&E program volunteer experience.
  • Develop placement processes matching volunteer skills with client needs.
  • Build tutor training booklets for volunteers.
  • Coordinate E&E volunteer orientation materials.
  • Contact past volunteers and mentors who expressed interest in the program and gauge participation in a refresher course or E&E orientation.
  • Develop evaluation and continuing care tools.
  • Assist in creating meaningful objectives specific to each class and service.
  • Administer assessments related to clients' academic abilities, learning style, and strengths.
  • Develop materials and supports for clients pursuing a college degree.



  • Student working toward a BA or BS in a relevant field
  • Organization skills and ability to manage time effectively
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Interest in serving in a diverse community
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in education and research preferred
